Lent & Easter

at Lordship Community Church

Lent Begins on March 2

with Ash Wednesday

The scriptures for this Lenten season are filled with parables and promises of God’s abundant and expansive grace. Jesus as a mother hen, a prodigal son welcomed home, a fig tree nurtured with care and hope, precious oil poured out lovingly and freely, stones shouting out with praise —these sacred texts are brimming with a gospel of grace. We’ve done nothing to deserve or earn this grace, and yet, like water, it spills over.

Our Lenten worship series, Full to the Brim, is an invitation—into a radically different Lent, into a full life. It’s an invitation to be authentically who you are, to counter scarcity and injustice at every turn, to pour out even more grace wherever it is needed. It disrupts the scarcity mentality that capitalism, oppression, or hierarchy can plant inside of us. When we allow ourselves to be filled to the brim with God’s lavish love, that love spills over. It reaches beyond ourselves; like water, it rushes and flows, touching everything in its path.

Below you will find more information on all of our worship opportunities this season.

Sanctuary Open House
Good Friday

The sanctuary will be open Friday, April 15, from 6 PM – 9 PM.
Come experience the serenity of the church sanctuary as you meditate on our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross with our self-guided Stations of the Cross.

On this Good Friday, we grieve the violence of humanity. In John’s account of Jesus’ death, Jesus’ final words are: “I am thirsty. . . it is finished.” He is offered a jar full of sour wine as he takes his final breaths. And yet, even here, God’s love is full, poured out, self-emptied. Even in his last moments, Jesus is overflowing with truth and the fullness of the human experience. God embodies the fullness of pain and deep sorrow. And so, in the silence of this day, let us, too, sit in the fullness of this cup of sorrow.

Lectio at Lunch

Wednesdays from 12:10 – 12:30 PM .
20 minutes of scripture and prayer on the readings we will be hearing in worship that week. All based on our Lent worship series: Full to the Brim.

Each Wednesday in Lent, we will go live on the Lordship Community Church Facebook Page and later it will be available on-demand wherever you get your podcasts.
